MailChimp is probably the most known free email marketing software as it was one of the first mass email marketing services to offer a free plan. It’s also known to have the most significant number of clients, so it’s certainly the king of popularity. After reviewing a handful of ratings from other users, it looks like people are loving this email marketing tool.
Free plan: Up to 2,000 subscribers and 12,000 email sends per month.
Free extras include: Multi-user accounts, Guides, and Tutorials, Landing Pages, Forms, Postcards, Google Remarketing Capabilities, Marketing Automation, Abandoned Cart Support, Order Notifications, Segmentation, A/B Testing, etc.
Drawbacks: When you are using the free plan, you will have branding in your emails, but that’s not such a big deal because it is a free email marketing software after all.
One of the drawbacks on pricing is that once you go from 2,000 to 2,001 pricing jumps from $0 to $30. That’s a pretty significant increase considering adding an additional subscriber. However, MailChimp is also offering a few more benefits along with the price increase.
For example, additional features you will unlock with a paid plan would be email send time optimization, delivery by time zone, and predicated demographics. This means that you can better reach your customers at times that are convenient for them resulting in better open rates.
Overall: Great tool for beginners, easy to use interface, and excellent pricing. If you want to learn more check out this full MailChimp review on PCmag.
2. SendGrid has a free email marketing software too
Rated 4 out of 5 stars on FitSmallBusiness
We have heard great things when it comes to Sendgrid. Marketing companies love Sendgrid for email campaign deployment is because of all the cool tech options this email service delivers on. Built in reputation monitoring, APIs to make automation easy, and real-time analytics. What’s not to love?
Free plan: Up to 40,000 email sends in the first 30 days then 100 email sends per day.
Free extras include: Template editors, AB testing, Segmentation, Real-time Analytics, Scalability, WebHooks, Reputation Monitoring, Drag and Drop editor, etc.
Drawbacks: One of the top complaints we found about SendGrids free email marketing software is that they often make changes. For example, a few years ago it was offering up to 400 emails per day for free, and now it is down to 100 per day. This could make you feel concerned if they remove the free option entirely.
Overall: If you need customization, and you are looking for good deliverability, well you can’t beat free. This tool is an excellent fit for those of you who are techies getting into the email marketing space and have automation.
